| Press Release

Texas real estate broker JT Haynes & co-owner/agent/wife Jamie Haynes of Triangle Realty, LLC, a digital, mobile and paperless brokerage firm (www.trianglerealtyllc.com) are pleased to announce that Happy, Texas resident and REALTOR®, Jennifer Krusing, contributed to the 2015 Triangle Realty First Fruits fund. The brokerage matched her contribution thus allowing Mrs. Krusing to contribute $80 to the The Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains.

The first donation was accepted by Carmen Aguirre, who is the Executive Director for the Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains, Inc. Ms. Aguirre was very grateful for the donation and said, “We were very honored and grateful that Mrs. Krusing chose our agency for her First Fruits donation. It is important to us that others in the community value the work that we do with abused and traumatized children and are willing to be part of serving our must vulnerable members of society.” Jennifer’s donation was used to pay for snacks provided to the children while they are at our office waiting for the process to be over. Sometimes the children are brought here straight from school and sometimes the process may take a while. We like to be able to offer them something to tide them over while they are here.

The Children’s Advocacy Center has been serving this community and the other 14 South Plains counties since 1998 in a very unique capacity. Their main job is to perform forensic interviews of abused/traumatized children as part of a multidisciplinary team collaborating in child abuse investigation cases. Their agency coordinates this effort by partnering with law enforcement, Child Protective Services, the medical experts on child abuse, mental health experts on child abuse, and Prosecutors to expedite services to these child victims and their non-offending caregivers. Their agency also provides therapeutic services, free of charge to child victims and their caregivers. Finally their agency provides education to children on staying safe through an anti-victimization program administered at area schools, daycares, summer camps, and after-school programs. They also educate adults on recognizing and reporting child abuse.

In 2015 the Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains performed 768 forensic interviews and provided 763 therapy sessions to 90 children and 267 therapy sessions to 54 of their caregivers. They also had 1959 children and adults receive education on child abuse. The South Plains area consistently has ranked in the top 3 in the state for confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect. Generally, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday. Only 1 out of 10 children will ever tell that they are being sexually abused. Therefore, it is crucial that adults keep reporting concerns about child abuse and that the Children’s Advocacy Center be able to continue to provide our services to this population.
